Where creativity meets the soul

Welcome to my humble den of the avant-garde, where like minded individuals can delve into the various artistic forms and contemplate their validity. Whether it be photography, film, philosophy, literature or music, its product is often an impactful and meaningful interpretation that frames a moment in time.

"We don't see things as they are. We see them as we are." ~ Anais Nin

~Character (film)~

Honesty, integrity, courage, passion and self-awareness are foundational human qualities but sometimes we lose our way. Where there is light there is shadow.

Meet Amaranthine ~ (meaning of or relating to an amaranth, undying), an idea I initially had for a short film. Caught in a perpetual loop where she searches for her mate through the hallways of time but always coming up empty. She is immortal, taking the fractured hearts of those who have lost hope. She buries them into the ground with a clock, hoping that time can mend them. Her crimes are despicable but she still clings to the possibility of redemption.

With my trusty vintage Black-Magic camera and supportive colleagues in tow, we set out to create an effigy of this woman. We wanted to capture her timelessness, her stoic demeanor and her vulnerability. We barely scraped the surface.

"I realised that I could lose myself in a character. I could live in a character. It was a choice. And when I was finished with that, I took a month to remember who I was. 'What do I believe? What are my politics? What do I like and dislike? It was too easy to forget."

The Road (Video) – A track with a simple repetitive rhythm that modulates in tone but not in tempo. A bit like the structure of our daily lives. Time continues at the same pace but each day gets a little heavier as we lose our loved ones along the way.

Chasing Stars – Inspired by science-fiction, by the astronaut, the time traveller, the seeker of truths. It’s the sound of travelling beside the stars, experiencing their weightlessness and freedom.

ARK ~novel~

The blue and white imperial sails of several Atlantean ships flapping violently against the saliferous wind. The salt parching the mouths of its soldiers, stinging their eyes as the drizzle from the ocean, a baptismal veil, sprays indiscriminately upon their faces. It was dusk and almost a million years ago. The Atlantean fleet under the rule of Ampheres, was majestic, the most advanced of its time. Navigating swell after swell and smashing down against each watery fist of the South Pacific. Every vessel was marvellous and crafted from oak, cedar and orichalcum, inscribed with cuneiform script and ornate designs; delicately etched to incite the protection of Poseidon. Each bow proffered a lodestar forged of consecrated rutile for protection and fine glass-hairs of water nymph that connected the fleet to Cassiopeia.
